Paramount to Distribute Jason Reitman's Next Film 'Labor Day'

Paramount will distribute and co-produceJason Reitman's Labor Day, the coming-of-age drama that will starKate Winslet and Josh Brolin. Labor Day, adapted by Reitman from a Joyce Maynard novel, is expected to shoot next year. It is the story of an escaped convict (played by Brolin) who seeks shelter with a single mother (Winslet) and her son in their small New Hampshire town during the titular holiday weekend. Paramount will co-produce the film with Indian Paintbrush, which is co-financing the project; the company's Steven Rales and Mark Roybal are executive producing. Also producing are Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith of Mr. Mudd Productions, and Reitman and Helen Estabrook of Right of Way Films. Reitman's Young Adult, starring Charlize Theron and written by his Juno collaborator Diablo Cody, will be released by Paramount in December. Reitman and Mr. Mudd Productions are represented by WME.
